How Much Juice Is In One Orange? I Squeezed One to Find Out

Juicing orange process series of photos

Orange juice isn’t needed for recipes quite as often as lemon juice or lime juice but it’s called upon now and then.

Size of oranges I used: Average size naval oranges.

How much juice did I get from one orange?

More than I thought out would.

  • 1/2 cup
  • 8 tablespoons
  • 24 teaspoons
  • 118 milliliters
  • 4 fluid ounces

Squeeze method: simple manual squeezer. See images below.

NOTE: If you squeeze by hand, you probably won’t get as much. I find a manual squeezer (see below) to be efficient when it comes to getting every drop possible.

Check it out:

Total amount from this orange was 1/2 cup.  It’s definitely more than I thought it would be but then I really went to town squeezing it.

Use our orange juice calculator below to calculate how many oranges you need for a specific amount of fresh orange juice.  The calculator is based on the amount of orange juice I squeezed from one lime set out above.
